Christian Dior - Shanghai Dreamers; Quentin Shih

Shih plays with surreal beauty and creates oil painting-style compositions by retouching his subjects and in this case using one Chinese stereotype and repeating it in a pattern to reinforce the rigor and uniformity of Chinese mass culture.

Christian Dior - The Stranger in the glass box Quentin Shih

“I had to shoot the Dior models in Paris,” he says, “so I came up with the idea of putting them into a glass box. The glass divides the room into two worlds – one for Dior models and one for Chinese people – both finding each other mysterious and strange. But they can’t communicate with each other through the glass. So I named the series The Stranger in the Glass Box.”
